Humboldt State University information release:
Following heavy rains, a landslide has developed on the HSU campus behind the Housing Grounds Shop on Granite Ave. There is no immediate threat to safety. Housing and Facilities Management continue to monitor the slide with University Police providing traffic control and maintaining a safe perimeter. People are asked to avoid the area along Granite Ave. if possible.
Some students in the Cypress Hall are being temporarily relocated to available campus housing.
Residents of the Creekview residence hall complex are advised to relocate their vehicles in the event of road closures. There will be controlled access to Granite Ave., as HSU staff assesses the slide. A complete assessment of the slide will commence after the storm system has passed. According to the NOAA National Weather Service, the storm is expected to pass by Sunday evening. Drivers are asked to use caution in this area.
The Housing Information Desk will be staffed 24 hours a day throughout the weekend to provide shuttle service and support residences who need to access their rooms in Creekview. The Housing Information Desk is located on the first floor of Jolly Giant Commons.
