On 1/15/15 at about 6:00 a.m. local, State and Federal Drug Enforcement Agents teamed up and served several arrests and search warrants at residences in the Hoopa and Eureka area.

The State and Federal search/arrest warrants were obtained as a result of an almost one and a half year narcotics investigation involving the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Humboldt County Drug Task Force, Eureka Police-Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Team and the United States Marshals Service.

This investigation was initiated after continuous complaints from citizens from the Hoopa community regarding on-going drug trafficking occurring on the Hoopa Indian Reservation.  Drug Agents initiated the investigation and gathered that this ongoing criminal activity involved narcotic traffickers in the Eureka area, dealing in large quantities of both heroin and methamphetamines. Agents gathered detailed evidence that narcotics are transported for the purpose of sales from the Eureka area to drug dealers residing in the Hoopa area. Investigative techniques involved the use of electronic surveillance, under cover narcotics agents posing as drug traffickers, extensive residential and vehicle surveillance and back ground investigations and intelligence gathering.

Drug Agents had obtained evidence of drug trafficking and initiated criminal investigations on subjects living in Hoopa and Eureka. Drugs agents have recovered multiple pounds of Heroin, Methamphetamine and illegal firearms that were sold, purchased or recovered during this investigation.

Two separate teams of Drug Agents began serving search warrants in the Hoopa and Eureka area at 6:00 a.m. The Hoopa search warrant teams located and arrested (5) five suspects at various locations. The following suspects were taken into custody from the Hoopa warrant service team:

  • Peter Dennis Jackson (72) was arrested and booked on Federal charges for narcotic sales.
  • Sally Ferris (34) was arrested of State charges for narcotic sales.
  • James Pulse (43) was arrested for an Illegal Weapons Violation.
  • David Lee Moon (26) was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
  • James Smith (35) was arrested a being a prior convicted Felon in possession of Firearm Ammunition.

The Eureka search warrant teams located and arrested (8) eight adult suspects and cited and released (1) one Juvenile suspect.

  • Ada Dorey (47) was arrested for a State warrant.
  • Sara Dorey (20) was arrested for a State warrant.
  • Erick Omar Rodriguez-Vega (23) was arrested and booked on Federal charges for narcotic sales.
  • David Gastelum (25) was arrested and booked on Federal charges for narcotic sales.
  • Sasha Peters (25) was arrested for a State warrant.
  • Mervena Jones (24) was arrested on State charges.
  • Tyler Abbott (22) was arrested and booked on Federal charges for narcotic sales.
  • Terry Lange (48) was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

This is an on-going Federal and State investigation and additional arrests for drug trafficking are expected.
