People contact the Outpost many, many times a day to ask what is going on right now in this or that portion of the county. Many times, what they want to know about is what the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is up to right in front of their eyes.

This can be hard to do in the moment, or even well after the moment. Right now the Sheriff’s Office does not have a fulltime person solely dedicated to taking calls from the press or public. Members of the office are always incredibly helpful and forthcoming when we get hold of them, but we can’t always get hold of them. We understand — after all, they do have other jobs to do.

So we’re going to give the following a shot. Here, in very brief and sometimes woefully incomplete form, are some of the highlights from yesterday’s day of crime and emergency in Humboldt County’s unincorporated areas, taken from the Sheriff’s Office’s daily calls-for-service log and filled out with other sheriff’s office documents and audio of dispatch communications with officers in the field.

At the end of the post: The entirety of yesterday’s calls-for-service log.
