From the Eureka Police Department:

On 01/28/15 at about 10:53 p.m., Officers with the Eureka Police Department recognized a recently reported stolen vehicle driving near 14th and B Streets. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that night at 6:00 p.m. from the 1900 block of Broadway Street.

The officers initiated a felony traffic stop on the 2004 red Chevrolet Colorado at 14th and California Streets. The driver, Aaron Joseph Aubrey (23) of Eureka was taken into custody for vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, and violation of his gang related probation.

The passenger, Benjamin Paul Gibson (22) of Eureka, dropped 14.5 grams of heroin and a digital scale while he was being detained. He was arrested for possession of heroin with the intent to distribute.

Both subjects were transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
