According to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department, Eureka resident Talen Clark Barton was arrested at 7:30 a.m. for fatally stabbing two people and seriously injuring two others in a Laytonville home this morning.

The Ukiah Daily Journal reports that the 19-year old suspect awoke at 12:15 a.m. and selected a 12-inch kitchen knife from inside the residence and proceeded to stab a 17-year old boy to death.

The commotion drew the attention of a 54-year old woman and a 52-year old man who were hospitalized with severe lacerations to the neck area, but are expected to survive. Another 52-year old man was also attacked and fatally stabbed in the chest.

The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department reports that two other people were living in the residence but were not harmed.

Barton was booked at the Mendocino County Jail, on two counts of homicide and two counts of attempted murder.
