Numerous LoCO readers wrote in this morning inquiring about the hint of haze in the air. At some point in their lives, it seems, someone told them that where there is smoke…
The National Weather Service provides our answer: Remarkably, smoke from several larger wildfires to the south — most notably, for us, the 8,000+ acre Rocky Fire in Lake County — has drifted all the way up into Humboldt airspace, according to the handy tweet below.

As for the smaller fires burning closer to home, the North Coast Air Quality Management District sent out an update this morning in which they indicate that the Queen Fire in Pecwan is at 158 acres and 75% contained, while the Buck Fire in Garberville is at 16 acres and 85% contained.
