A small vegetation fire is burning off of U.S. Highway 169 near Cappell. The fire was reported around 1 p.m. today. CalFire Battalion Chief Laura Coleman said the blaze is currently burning at a slow rate of speed. A tanker and two helicopters have been dispatched to the area.

“Since it’s a slow rate of spread, our prediction [to contain the fire] is good. But we can’t say that until it’s actually contained,” Coleman said.

Crews have not yet arrived on scene.
