We don’t have a whole lot of information about this, and if someone in the neighborhood has eyes on the situation and would like to send us some photos and updates, that would be great.
However, at about 5:15 this afternoon Humboldt Bay Fire was called to a vegetation fire out Elk River Road, near the intersection with Wrigley Road. Here’s the call:
Another quarter or an hour or so after this, firefighters on scene reported that the fire was about a quarter of an acre in size, and surrounded by road on three sides.
At least one helicopter was called in to attack the blaze from the air. Regular updates from personnel on the ground throughout the 5 p.m. hour held the fire’s size at a quarter-acre, so at this writing it seems as though firefighters have held the line.
Official information is still scant, but if you have any inside scoop we’d love to hear it. Send photos and reports to news@lostcoastoutpost.com, or just post ‘em here.
