Rain means wrecks, and there seems to have been a bad one last night near Weott. A Lost Coast Outpost reader alerts us to the fact that Highway 101 was closed both ways near Weott for a spell at around 3:30 a.m., after a sedan was found on its roof with debris scattered across all four lanes of the highway.

Through traffic was opened in a controlled fashion at 4 a.m. while the California Highway Patrol sought a tow truck company to come out a clear the lanes.

CHP dispatch stopped tracking the incident a little before 5 a.m., but it’s not clear that it is completely resolved. If you have eyes on the scene, please let us know.

UPDATE: A reader who passed through the scene said he saw two ambulances there, along with numerous other rescue personnel, some of whom were looking over the side with flashlights.
