UPDATE, 11:39 a.m.: Klemetson just provided another update to KHUM. According to Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office PIO Wayne Hanson, one of the suspects, 34-year-old Bret Swortzel has been arrested. He was dressed in black and hiding in the bushes north of the New Harris General Store. Helicopters are still circling the area looking for the two other white, male suspects. The men are considered armed and dangerous.

Original Post: Early this morning, Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a remote area east of Garberville called Island Mountain on a report of an attempted home invasion robbery involving several men. LoCO has reached out to multiple individuals within the Sheriff’s Office for more details. No response yet.
In the scanner audio below, recorded at around 12:26 a.m., a dispatcher states that a New Harris woman called in and stated that she and her husband were attacked and pepper sprayed by their son in their home. The son was accompanied by three other individuals. Medical personnel were dispatched.

Klemetson would later inform us that HCSO has issued a shelter in place advisory meaning people should stay in their homes. The latest update LoCO received: A witness on the scene tells KHUM that the suspects have been located and are being chased by law enforcement.
