A person was shot tonight in a home on Eastern Avenue, in the Sunset neighborhood of Arcata.

The call came into the Arcata Police Department at around 11:15 this evening. The Arcata Police Department, University Police Department, Arcata Fire Department and medical services responded to the scene quickly, closing down roads in the neighborhood. Over the scanner, emergency personnel were heard attempting to perform CPR on the victim, but later they told dispatch that it “looked like it was going to be 1144” — code for a fatality.

Police received initial reports of two, or perhaps three, people fleeing the scene on foot.

We will update this post when we know more.
