On 05/02/2015 at about 5:04 pm, an officer of the Eureka Police Department attempted a traffic enforcement stop on a motorcycle at Del Norte and Lowell Streets for a stop sign and helmet violation. The motorcycle fled and a pursuit was initiated. The motorcyclist led officers through residential and commercial areas of town. At one point the motorcyclist drove across the field at 20/30 Park and eventually traveled the wrong way on W. Henderson Street. Due to public safety concerns, officers did not follow the motorcyclist on W. Henderson Street and they lost sight of him.

Moments later, a citizen reported that the motorcyclist was now fleeing on foot in the area of Brennan and Pine Streets. Officers checked the area and located him on W. Henderson at Summer Streets. The motorcyclist, identified as Troy McCluskey (29 years old of Eureka), was taken into custody without further incident.

The motorcycle McCluskey was riding was soon located abandoned in the rear yard of a residence at the 2900 block of Pine Street. The motorcycle was later towed from the scene.

A records check revealed that McCluskey had an active felony warrant for his arrest. The warrant was for drug possession charges and resisting arrest. McCluskey was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on his outstanding felony warrant and fresh charges. The fresh charges included, evading, driving on a suspended license, and probation violation.
