Three people were injured in a possible hash lab explosion on the 1200 block of Freshwater Road in Eureka this afternoon.

Humboldt Bay Fire responded to an initial call of a possible marijuana grow fire or hash lab explosion around 4:15 p.m.

Battalion Chief Chris Emmons told the Outpost that first responders encountered heavy smoke and fire showing from the roof of the house.

LoCO reporter Andrew Goff is on scene and was told by fire officials that two people were transported to the hospital, one with burns. The homeowners were unwilling to talk to Humboldt Bay Fire and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters and the Sheriff’s Office are still on scene investigating the cause of the fire.

Traffic is heavy in the area as Freshwater Road has been reduced to one lane. California Highway Patrol is on scene handling traffic flow.
