UPDATE, MONDAY: The CHP has confirmed that two people were eventually discovered to have been killed in this accident.

One person was killed in a single-vehicle accident on California Route 299 East of Cedar Flat around 2:30 p.m. near the border of Humboldt and Trinity Counties.

The Outpost’s Shane Mizer was told by a California Highway Patrol Officer on scene, that the vehicle came off the roadway and fell into the Trinity River.

Mizer reports that the roads were icy throughout Route 299.
