Humboldt Bay Fire was called to the scene of a single-story home emitting smoke a few minutes ago. The Outpost’s Andrew Goff, on scene, reports that firefighters mostly have it handled now.

Neighbors tell our reporter that an explosion was heard at the home immediately before it caught fire. “Shook my whole house,” one said.

We will update when we know more.
