Arlo Christensen, 45 passed away unexpectedly in her home in Arcata on the evening of September 23, 2015.

Arlo was born in Arcata to Joanne (Gevas, Christensen) Clark on May 29, 1970. She grew up in Arcata and attended high school at Arcata High.

Arlo loved spending time with her family and friends and going to the local rivers and beaches. She loved music and dancing and going to concerts and festivals. She was a volunteer for the past several years at Reggae on the River and the Summer Arts Festival at Benbow. Arlo touched the lives of all she knew with her bright smile and warm heart. She was always quick to share a joke and a laugh.

Arlo lived and loved fiercely. She knew what she wanted and went for it with all the gusto she could muster; sometimes to the dismay of her loved ones. She had that spark, that love for life and the experiences life had to offer that just had to leave you feeling proud and maybe a little envious. She raised two beautiful sons, James and Darrell, and then just when she thought she was about done with all of that, life surprised her with Bella. Arlo hit the reset button and threw herself into mothering this new child who has become the delight of everyone she meets. A more ferocious mama bear and loving daughter and friend you will not find.

Arlo was preceded in death by her grandparents Elsie and Henry Gevas, aunt Susan Gevas and her father-in-law Wayne Crawford. Arlo is survived by her husband of 14 years, Darrell Crawford, her sons James and Darrell Holbrooks, her daughter Isabella Crawford and her granddaughter Layla Holbrooks. Arlo is also survived by her parents Joanne and Dan Clark, her mother and Father-in-law: Donna and Michael Fisk, Crawford-in-laws, aunt, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and her many loving friends.

A celebration of life is planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, October 16th at Merryman’s Beach House on Moonstone Beach. This will be a potluck lunch and all friends and family are invited. A memorial binder is being planned so please bring copies of any photos, cards, anecdotes or stories you would like to have included. There will also be an opportunity to submit soft copies. The celebration of life will be followed by a private scattering.
