Born June 5, 1936 in Devil’s Lake, North Dakota, John Bernard Fiet died in peaceful slumber on October, 18th 2015 at the age of 79 in Eureka. His big, beautiful and generous heart had grown tired.

He was a loving and devoted husband, a kind and generous father, a caring brother and a true friend to so many. It was his wish to join his beloved wife Maurine on the other side. For this, he waited 20 long years.

John went to elementary and high school in Willamina, Oregon. He married in 1956 and had two beautiful daughters. He worked in the timber and fishing industries in the Pacific Northwest and then became a traveling salesmen with Hill Bros. Coffee Company in 1960. His travels eventually brought him to Eureka where he purchased the Eureka Market. He found his niche in the grocery business and after many successful years, he was able to retire at 50 years old.

Upon his arrival in Eureka, he reunited with his elementary school classmate, Maurine, and began their 28-year adventure of true love. He became a father to her three children, and him and Maurine traveled the world together and built a happy life. He lovingly cared for her at home until her death in 1998.

John enjoyed fishing, golfing and entertaining friends. He loved going to his cabin in Del Loma, where he spent time with his brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Georgia Clements. They were an awesome foursome. He was also a longtime member of the Elks and he treasured his friends there.

John was preceded in death by his parents John Fiet and Thelma Ivarson Fiet, his brother Kenneth Fiet, sister Margaret Howard, his dear wife, Maurine Brackenbrough Fiet, and his brother-in-law Dean Clements.

John was an affable and loyal friend and he will be fondly remembered by many. He will be sadly missed by his children, daughters Laura Young, Lisa Bishop, Denise Moehnke and Renee Rosenburg, and his son Lane Rosenburg as well as his grandchildren Tim, Megan, Caitie, Thomsen, Allen, Warren, Teren, Willie, Rose, Jesse and Linsdey and his great grandchildren Alexus, Kelby, Layla and Matilda. Family would like to thank Tom Shinaman for his devoted friendship, the PCU nurses at St. Joseph Hospital, especially Julie and Michael, and his OT Jean for her kindness and supportive presence.

A private celebration of life will be held for his family. In lieu of flowers we would like to ask that you make a donation to;
