A group of about 20 people hit the streets of Eureka this afternoon to spread peace and happiness throughout the community.

Eureka resident Carrie Dadigan said the group was made up of friends and family celebrating her birthday by spreading cheer in Humboldt.

“There’s so much negativity in the world today. I just wanted to spread the love through Humboldt,” Dadigan said. “I saw a video on Facebook about out a group of people doing this in Seattle and I decided I wanted to do it too.”

The happiness activists started at the Eureka courthouse and marched down F Street toward the Eureka Boardwalk. Cars honked their horns in approval and people poked their heads out storefront doorways to cheer the group on.

“Everywhere we’ve gone, we’ve had nothing but gratitude,” Dadigan said. “We’re gonna do this on a regular basis.”

A customer at Old Town Coffee was so excited, he ran out of the store to cheer the group on.
