From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:
On Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at about 6:15 a.m. two Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were on patrol in the Samoa area and noticed a bicyclist headed southbound in the northbound lane of the road. The bicycle did not have all of the proper safety requirements for riding in the road. When the deputies turned around to contact the subject on the bicycle they noticed the bicyclist was no longer on the road. The deputies searched on foot for the subject and found the subject trying to squeeze the bicycle through a wire fence.
The deputies contacted the subject, arrestee Vincent Charles McKenney, age 26, and inquired about his actions. McKenney gave the deputies a name and stated he was on his way to work with a vague time of when he had to be at work. McKenney appeared extremely nervous when talking with the deputies. Upon further inquiry, the deputies determined McKenney had initially provided the deputies with a false name. When deputies ran McKenney’s name through their communications center they learned he had a felony warrant out for his arrest with a search and seizure clause. The deputies searched through the backpack McKenney was wearing and found burglary tools inside. The deputies placed McKenney under arrest.McKenney was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and booked under the following charges: PC 978.5 - Warrant/Failure to Appear on Felony, PC148.9(A) - False Identification to Peace Officers, PC 466 - Possession of Burglary Tools. The original charge for the warrant is a Violation of Probation. McKenney is being held on his no bail felony warrant.
