Ferndale Police Department press release:

On September 18th, 2015 at approximately 2000 hours, Ferndale Police Officers Gavryush and James arrested 30-year-old Ferndale resident Daron Richard Woodin after a two mile motorcycle pursuit.

Officers Gavryush and James were on patrol in the area of Hwy 211 and Waddington Road when they observed a motorcycle with several lighting violations. Officers attempted to effect a traffic stop on the driver of the motorcycle, but the driver fled a high rate of speed.  The motorcycle took evasive turns, traveled onto the opposing traffic lane with speeds reaching in excess of 80 miles per hour.  

The motorcycle suddenly pulled over to a stop.  Officers took Woodin into custody without incident. Based on the officer’s investigation, they learned Woodin’s motorcycle’s engine quit operating which was why Woodin pulled over.

Wooding was arrested, transported and booked at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for the listed charges:

1.    CVC 2800.1(a), Fleeing from a pursuing peace officer

2.    CVC 14601.2,   Driving on a suspended driver license

3.    CVC 12500(b), No motorcycle endorsement

4.    CVC 22107,     Failure to activate turn signal while turning

5.    CVC 23103(a), Reckless driving

6.    CVC 24252(a), Lighting equipment not maintained

7.    CVC 16028(a), Vehicle uninsured

8.    CVC 4454,       No registration card

9.    CVC 24601,     Non functioning license plate light

10.    CVC 22351(a), Excessive speed

11.    CVC 24603(a), Stop lamp not working
