UPDATE, Wednesday, noon:

Highway 299 was reopened to one-way controlled traffic and all evacuations were lifted last night at 10:43 p.m., according to Cal Fire. The fire has spread to encompass 35 acres, though it is now 75 percent contained.

Press release from the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office:

At approximately 1555 hours (3:55pm) a brush fire was reported to the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office. The fire’s location is on Highway 299 near Little Browns Creek Road. The Sheriff’s Office has ordered mandatory evacuations for Little Browns Creek Road. Highway 299 is closed in both directions near the fire.
