UPDATE, 4:58 p.m.: EPD PIO Brittany Powell was kind enough to provide a bit more info on this afternoon’s arrest. She reports that at around 4 p.m. this afternoon, an EPD officer made contact with a male subject wearing the color blue near the corner of Ninth and L streets. The officer recognized the man’s facial tattoo design as one with gang ties and noticed that he was standing on top of a firearm. The gun was later found to be loaded.
The officer arrested 18-year-old Juan Olivares, 18, of Eureka for possession of a concealed firearm and possession of a loaded firearm.
