A few moments ago, Eureka emergency services were called out to the “north 40” parking lot of the Bayshore Mall for a man who had reportedly overdosed on heroin.
The 911 caller told the police that the patient — a 40-year-old male — was in the greenbelt at the time of the call, and that locals would transport him to the parking lot for care.
The first police officer on the scene reported that the man was breathing and had a pulse, but was unresponsive. Later, Humboldt Bay Fire personnel told the Outpost’s Andrew Goff that the patient was in stable condition. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
