Tucked between a tranquil bay and the cascading redwoods, Humboldt State offers the hottest HSU-alumni themed resort this side of Mendocino County.

From June 1 to August 12 the university will be renting rooms to alumni who want to reminisce about the old days of living on campus.

Relive about your fond college memories of living in a cramped space; quietly losing your virginity while your bunkmate pretends to sleep; hiding drugs from your resident advisor; burning food on the electric stove; or vomiting in the bathroom sink.

Maybe your experience was different …

“What we’re trying to do is keep that HSU spirit alive,” said Director of Housing and Residence Life Steve St. Onge. “We know we have a beautiful destination and it’s an opportunity for alums to come back and rekindle their experiences at HSU.”

The university will also offer “flexible dining options” at the J cafeteria, where guests can enjoy a variety of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, which will likely include those rubbery pancakes you’ve missed so much.

St. Onge also tells the Outpost that alumni can choose from any campus residence hall, pending ongoing construction.

“Some folks want to come back and stay in the place they used to live in,” St. Onge said. “Some want some stay in College Creek, which wasn’t here when they were.”

Guests can also access the Student Recreation Center with full cardio and weight room. Or, more athletic guests may want to attempt climbing the hill leading to historic Founders Hall, which offers a panoramic view of all the places you thought about visiting while you were stuck in class.

In all seriousness, HSU really is offering a summer getaway for alumni. The university is even planning to offer Humboldt excursions hosted by Center of Activities. Read more in this alumni association email sent out below.
