Two men were taken into custody by Eureka Police, after one suspect allegedly beat a man with a club while an accomplice attempted to stab the victim near the intersection of Spring and Hawthorne Streets just after 5 p.m.

A Eureka resident who wished to go by the alias John said he witnessed the assault.

“I heard yelling, so I looked out my apartment window and there was a guy with a knife trying to stab him, while the other guy was trying to hit him with a club,” John said. “He was yelling for help: ‘someone call the cops, they’re trying to stab me!’”

The three men reportedly exchanged punches as the fight continued down the street.

EPD arrested the two attackers on scene. The alleged victim was transported to the hospital by paramedics, but did not seem to suffer any apparent stab wounds.

“The victim looked a little roughed up on his elbow and that was pretty much it,” John said.

More information will be posted when it is avaliable.
