While Eureka has endured a parade of “I’m in!/I’m out!” candidacies in recent days, the small Eel River valley hamlet of Rio Dell saw its deadline to file to run its upcoming city council race pass. Check out the City of Rio Dell press release below for details on who is feeling ambitious:
The nomination process for seats on the Rio Dell City Council has closed. Nominations ceased being accepted at 5:00pm on Wednesday, August 17th after a statutory deadline extension was triggered by the non‐filing of current City Councilmember Jack Thompson who is not seeking re‐election.
Two seats are up for election on the November 8 ballot. There are three candidates who have qualified for the election. The two candidates receiving the most votes will be sworn in January of 2017 to serve a four‐year term.
The following nominees have qualified for the ballot:
- Bryan K. Richter, General Contractor
- Susan Strahan, Business Owner
- Frank Wilson, Incumbent/Electrician
Persons interested in voting for these candidates in the November 8, 2016 General Election must be a resident of Rio Dell and appropriately registered to vote. You can register to vote at http://registertovote.ca.gov/.
