Steven Grant Taggart, son of Vivian Taggart and the late Grant Taggart, passed away suddenly at his home, in McKinleyville. A life lost tragically, and far too soon.
As a teenager he was determined to work in the mills, so he lied about his age and worked until they found out how old he really was! When he was finally of age, he landed a job at Schmidbauer Lumber in Eureka, which was his pride and joy, and a job he loved for over 20 years.
Steve was a huge fitness buff, following his hero and ‘doppelganger’ Chuck Norris! He always had a cat … he loved his cats. He loved to work out, up until his death, in his ‘gym,’ kick boxing, boxing, weight lifting and as we all know..bicycling! You could see Steve daily either walking or cycling from Eureka to McKinleyville. Even tho his life spiraled downward in the last 12 years, his love for ‘fitness’ never left him. You could see him daily either walking or riding his bicycle from Eureka to McKinleyville.
Steve was preceded in death his father, Grant Taggart and survived by his ‘human family,’ including his mother, Vivian, and his sisters, brother, several nieces and nephews and his very special lady, Linda. As well as his ‘feline family,’ his two cats, who stayed at his side even after he passed.
Donations could be sent in his name, if you choose, to either Shannon Miranda’s rescue (who helped save his kitty RK which he always told that story and was always grateful), or to ADCS detox center of Eureka.
If Steve’s death can be a warning, and can turn someone else’s life around, if one person can make better choices, it wouldn’t be in vain. He always believed in God, was a Christian but fought his demons daily.
No services will be held.
