Gladys Hartman passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior the evening of Wednesday, December 21, 2016.

She was the second child of Carl Robert Kirksey and Ruby (Laverna) Kirksey, born July 29, 1934 in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.

Gladys left Oklahoma in December 1953 with her next door neighbor, Donald Edward Hartman. They were married in Virginia City, Nevada on their way to the Eureka area. They were blessed with one child, Ronald Bruce Hartman, in November 1954.

Gladys’s siblings were Melvin, Alvin, Robert, Phyllis Ann, Jacklyn, and Carol Jean.

Gladys was a quiet, unassuming lady and a good conversationalist when she spoke.

Her career included working at a Loleta grocery market, at a dry cleaning shop packing wedding gowns, and writing for a ladies magazine on topics of food preparation and gardening. She was especially fond of yellow roses.

She attended the Eureka Adult Day Care for many years, and she worshipped at the Ridgewood Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Beard. She was often heard praying, thanking God for His love and for salvation.

Graveside service will be held in Ocean View Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 6.

A special thank you to Hospice of Humboldt.
