Otto Edward Timm, 83, of Orick, passed away February 4, 2016 in Santa Rosa, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Wilsonville, Ill., to Otto and Mary Ann Timm on March 3, 1932. In 1952 he was drafted into army at the age of 18, where he served in the Korean War. He was discharged in 1954.

He moved out to California in 1956 to live with his sister, Irene, to drive truck for her husband Paul Calvert, Sr. He worked in Willits, hauling logs. This is where he met his wife, Alice — she was a cute blonde waitress at the Willits Café. They married in 1957 and they moved to Orick, where they still reside. Dad was a self-employed truck driver until he retired in 1995.

He was a long time member of the Orick volunteer fire department, chief, assistant chief and member of the VFW. He enjoyed watching his Cubbies (who never made it to the World Series). He enjoyed woodworking and going to the casinos. He loved giving people a bad time, especially with his gruff voice — he scared a lot of his grandkids and his nieces but they got used to it and they knew he was a soft-hearted grandpa and uncle.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Mary, and his four sisters, Elizabeth, Margret, Virginia and Irene. He is survived by his wife Alice and their three children Carey, Mary Theuerkauf (Todd), Larry (Kim); grandchildren, Jeremiah Timm, Amanda Harpe, Brian Prescott, Shelby Reeves, Tristin Timm and Brooke Martin; great-grandchildren Kyndel and Landen Harpe and two more coming this year, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held March 5, 2016, at the Orick Community Hall at 12 p.m. It will be a pot luck. Bring your favorite dish and stories.
