From Humboldt Bay Fire:

On February 8th at approximately 4:05 AM Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a reported structure fire in the 500 block of West Buhne Street. A first alarm assignment, including two fire engines, one ladder truck, one squad and two chief officers responded. Upon arrival first arriving crews observed heavy fire coming from the front and rear of a one story wood-frame detached garage.

Crews arrived and quickly attacked the fire, knocking it down within 10 minutes of arrival. The garage was mainly used for storage and due to the large quantity of contents, full extinguishment took approximately 90 minutes. Occupants of the adjoining residence were awoken by the sound of the fire and escaped without injury.

The fire is under investigation, but appears to have started outside of the garage, to the back near a garbage can. The garage is a total loss, estimated value of $10,000. Fire crews extinguished the fire before it could extend to nearby residences.
