Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release:
On Saturday, January 9, 2016 at approximately 9:00 a.m., Humboldt County Deputy Sheriffs were on patrol in Trinidad and observed a green Honda CRV parked in front of a residence on Kay-Winn Lane. The vehicle matched the description of a stolen vehicle out of Arcata. Deputies interviewed the occupants of the residence and they denied knowing how the vehicle ended up parked on that street. Deputies learned a wanted felon, 32 year old Vernon Weatherford, of Hoopa, was hiding out at a residence behind the Trinidad Casino. Deputies responded to the residence and located Weatherford along with the key to the stolen vehicle.
Weatherford was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for his felony warrant and possession of a stolen vehicle.
