A driver reportedly took off on foot after crashing a hot-wired truck into a tree before gently hitting the back of a parked car near the intersection of A and Washington Streets in Eureka around 11:30 a.m. today.

Eureka resident Erika Torres told the Outpost via Facebook that her neighbor saw a man crash into her parked Honda multiple times before fleeing the scene.

“Probably because the car is still in drive and [you] take it off of that or put it reverse,” Torres said. “[The police] can’t turn it off; it started sparking.”

Eureka Police Officers are on scene awaiting the arrival of a tow truck.
