Janet Lynn Miller
-1954-2016-

On the morning of July 1st, 2016, the day after her 62nd birthday, Mrs. Janet Lynn Miller “rode out on the vibe she came in on.” She peacefully moved on from this world surrounded by loved ones after a four year battle with cancer.

She was born on June 30th, 1954 to a loving southern family in Lawndale, North Carolina. She lived an adventurous life starting with running off to join the circus to driving an 18-wheeler. She was the first woman to work for Carolina Box Co. and couldn’t start until they built a women’s bathroom.

She met her sweetheart in North Carolina, where she devoted herself to raising her four children. After traveling around the country on a school bus she settled her family in Arcata, California, where some of the locals and not-so-locals, took to calling her “Mom.” She was well known for her green thumb, and while living in the mountains she exemplified the best qualities of a Humboldt County farmer. She found great joy in caring for animals and organic gardening.

She was proceeded in death by her mother Iveree Sain and her sister Jane Davis. She is survived by her father Hugh Sain, her husband Ron Miller, her children Josh, Jessica, Meagan, and Nichole, and her five grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held in Blue Lake on Saturday, July 9th from 2pm to 5pm. Anyone who wants to come remember this amazing woman may call Ron at 707-382-8544 or Nichole at 707-499-5167 for directions or further details.
