UPDATE, 10:29 a.m.: Eureka Police Captain Steve Watson sends the following update via email:

EPD recovered the stolen vehicle last night around 11 p.m. in the 1600 block of G Street. The vehicle was unoccupied and towed from the scene for evidence processing.

On 7/06/2016, at 4:56 a.m., Eureka Police Department officers responded to the 1300 block of ‘M’ Street for a report of a home invasion robbery. Upon investigation, officer learned that two males, wearing ski masks and gloves, forced their way into the residence. The suspects were armed with handguns.

The suspects used handcuffs to secure the only adult male resident. A child and an elderly subject were not restrained. The suspects assaulted the victim as they interrogated him over the location of valuables. The suspects gained access to the victim’s safe and stole several items. The suspects took the victim’s car keys and stole his 1999 green Mercury Cougar, California license 7GOT642. This robbery is an active investigation and anybody with information about the suspects or the location of the stolen car is asked to contact Detective Ron Harpham at (707) 441-4305.
