Numerous residents of Trinity profundo write to let us know that a mudslide completely closed Highway 36 last night.
Various resources — the Caltrans QuickMap and the California Highway Patrol’s automated dispatch center — tell us that it is still closed today, with no current estimated time of reopening.
“Motorists are advised to use an alternate route,” Caltrans says. We’ll update when we know more.
Elsewhere in Trinity County, Highway 3 between Weaverville and Trinity Center is still off the table due to the slipout we posted photos of last night.
