UPDATE, 3:04 p.m.: The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office has tweeted out a suspect in this case, 36-year-old Adam Sundberg:

UPDATE, 1:59 p.m.: The Outpost spoke with Sheriff’s Office PIO Selena Zorrilla-Mendoza who added a few details with regards to where we’re at with this thing. Deputies are currently searching the woods located near the intersection of Fox Farm Road and Westhaven Drive where the thus-far-officially-unnamed suspect is thought to have fled. A Coast Guard helicopter has been enlisted to assist with a search and a K-9 unit has been requested.

UPDATE, 12:18 p.m.: The Times-Standard was able to track down someone from HCSO: Lt. Wayne Hanson reports that the woman was able to escape from her assailants and is safe and sound. Hanson tells the T-S the incident began as a domestic violence dispute and that the suspect smashed out the windows of the victim’s car.

The Sheriff’s Office is still searching for a vehicle associated with the alleged kidnapper. He is believed to have fled down Fox Farm Road.

Original Post: Law enforcement is searching the areas of Trinidad and Westhaven after a report of a woman being kidnapped by a man wielding a baseball bat in Murphy’s Market parking lot. The Outpost has received reports form readers of numerous Humboldt County Sheriff’s vehicles and a helicopter combing the vicinity. 

There has been a flurry of activity and information given over the scanner and on social media, much of which we’re going to hold back on releasing as this is an active investigation. The Outpost has put in a call to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and will update this post when we know more.
