Marion O. Saffell went home to be with the Lord on May 2nd 2016 in McKinleyville at 88 years of age.

Born to Marion A. Saffell and Grace ‘Lackinbill’ Saffell on the 30th of September, 1927 in Murphy, Oklahoma, Marion served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict at Fort Ord, California.

After the barrel company he worked for shut down he went to work at the U.S. Postal Service. He serviced the areas of Arcata, McKinleyville, Fieldbrook and Blue Lake for over 30 years. He then worked for HUD until he retired.

Marion was a member of the New Hope Church of God in McKinleyville.

Marion is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lugina Fern Saffell; his sister, Coradella Aulman; his five children, David, Sharon, Daniel, Glenn and Cynthia; his 9 grandchildren, Robert, Michael, Candis, Charles, Justin, Hazel, Kayla, Carrie and Levi; his 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Marion was preceded in death by his father, mother and three sisters.

The viewing will be held at Sanders Funeral Home Monday, May 9 from 4-8 p.m. Sanders Funeral Home is located at 1835 E St., Eureka. Funeral services will be at the New Hope Church of God on Tuesday May 10 at 11 a.m. New Hope Church of God is located at 2022 Sutter Rd., McKinleyville.
