Artistic rendering of scanner traffic by John Ross Ferrara.
The average slow-news day for a LoCO reporter consists of sitting at a computer and waiting for something to happen.
A big part of the sitting-around process involves listening to the police scanner. We never know exactly what we’re listening for. But eventually, if we wait long enough, some thing will probably happen some where.
Most of the time it’s very straightforward information that can be put into words and churned out as news. But some scanner chatter is better left to the imagination. Like today’s incident in Redway, where meth, laundry and a wiener dog all managed to fit into the same sentence.
