Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release:

On Monday, May 2, 2016, at about 5:45 a.m., Humboldt County Deputy Sheriffs responded to the area of 400 Mad River Road for a report of a carjacking. Upon arrival, deputies met with a 54 year old male victim. The victim told deputies he was asleep in his vehicle, a red 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 pick-up truck license plate number 6G27949, at the Mad River Boat Ramp when he was pulled out of his vehicle and thrown to the ground. The victim observed three male suspects attempting to get into his vehicle. The victim told deputies he tried to fight back, but the suspects attacked him, hitting him with an unknown object.

The suspects drove away in the victim’s vehicle to a nearby vehicle stuck in the mud. The victim observed the suspects use his vehicle to pull the other vehicle, a dark colored pick-up truck with a dark colored lumber rack, out of the mud and drove both vehicles away.

The victim was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries received during the altercation.
