Raul J. Murillo Jr. passed away on the evening of April 24th 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was 58. He lived a very happy and full life in the short time that he was here, which revolved around his great passion for music, sports and most of all family.

Raul Jr. was born in San Jose California on June 13, 1957 to Raul and Gloria Murillo. He had two younger brothers, Jimmie and Mario Murillo that he loved more than anything in the world. Raul graduated in 1975 from James Lick High, in San Jose.

Raul would say one of his greatest achievements in life were his daughters, Jesseka and Ashlee. He lived for his girls, always working hard to give them the best. He wanted nothing more than to be a great dad. There was nothing that he wouldn’t do for his “Bear” or “Cookie.”

In 1999, Raul moved to Humboldt County with his family from Santa Cruz. In 2005, he met the woman of his dreams and he wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of his life with her, Andrea (Cruz) Murillo. They were married 2 years later on Oct 27, 2007. He would tell anyone and everyone that she was his best friend and true love.

Raul worked in sales for Budweiser, locally and in Watsonville, then for 7-Up and his latest for Suddenlink. He also worked in grocery for Safeway, Ray’s and Fry’s.

His love for music couldn’t get loud enough. As a child he played the trumpet and as an adult he picked up a passion for the harmonica. He loved to go to concerts including, Reba McEntire, Michael Jackson & Michael McDonald, to name a few.

His passion for sports was a family affair. He played baseball for many years, and later coached and umpired. He helped his dad coach his younger brothers throughout their childhood. He also was an avid bowler. Raul had season tickets for seven years to the San Francisco 49ers games where he loved to tailgate. The only thing that rivaled his love for the 49ers, was his love for Giants Baseball. His all-time favorite athlete was Willie Mays. He also enjoyed watching the Golden State Warriors — Steph Curry made him grin with every bucket. He was a true Bay Area fan, but had a love for all sports really, including bowling, tennis, horse racing, race cars, football, basketball, baseball, boxing and golf.

Raul was greeted with open arms by his mother and father. He is survived by his daughters Jesseka Cooper (Tyler) and Ashlee Murillo (Robbie), his grandson Donovan Cooper, his beloved wife Andrea Murillo and her children who he loved as his own, Joe Parks, Jesse Parks (Toni), Kelsie Parks (Nerissa) and the grandchildren: Austin, Malia, Gabe, Rhys, Trevin, Madi, and Colleen, his brothers, Jimmie and Mario and all of their children and his large extended family. And of course his best friends on four legs “Buster”.

He will be greatly missed by everyone that he knew. God must have needed a Salesman in heaven. We know you are dancing and singing up there.
