The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and several other law enforcement agencies flooded the parking lot of the McKinleyville Kmart and surrounding areas this afternoon, responding to some sort of incident of violence.

Selena Zorrilla-Mendoza, spokesperson for the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, told the Outpost this afternoon that not much information was available at the time, but she said that contrary to initial reports the incident was not a stabbing.

One person has been detained by law enforcement at the scene after an extensive search of nearby areas, according to witnesses. An ambulance was also dispatched, but it’s unknown if any patients were taken to the hospital. A witness tells the Outpost that he saw EMTs treat a woman at the scene.
