From the Eureka Police Department:

On November 3, 2016, at about 11:39 p.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department responded to a gas station on the 2100 block of 4th Street for the report of an attempted armed robbery. The suspect had entered the store with a shotgun and demanded money from the register. The clerk noticed the shotgun appeared to be unloaded and told the suspect to leave. The suspect left on foot without further incident.

The suspect was described as a white male, 20-30 years old, 6’5”, thin build, wearing a dark knit cap, dark blue hooded sweatshirt, jeans, black and white shoes, and was wearing a fake beard and mustache. The shotgun was described as having a single barrel. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate anyone matching the description.

At about 11:54 p.m., officers were dispatched to a hotel on the 800 block of W. Wabash Ave. for the report of an armed robbery. The suspect had entered the hotel with a shotgun and demanded money from the lobby register. The clerk complied and the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect was described as a white male, 24-25 years old, 6’2”, medium build, blonde hair, blue eyes, wearing a black Carhartt jacket, blue and white shoes, and a black ski mask. The employee described the suspect’s voice as having a “country” accent. The shotgun was described as a sawed off shotgun. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

Open businesses in the vicinity were notified of the robberies by EPD dispatch and officers. Based on the similarities and time frame, it appears the two incidents are possibly related.
