Coast Guard crews from Station Humboldt Bay rescued five people aboard a sailing vessel after the vessel was overcome by heavy weather approximately 14 miles west of Crescent City, Sunday.

A crewmember aboard the 46-foot sailing vessel, Paramour III, contacted Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay watchstanders at approximately 9:45 p.m., Saturday, stating they were safe but the weather was overcoming the vessel. 

Due to the sea conditions at the time, watchstanders decided, that since the vessel’s crew wasn’t injured they would let the storm subside until daylight. The Paramour maintained communication with Sector Humboldt Bay throughout the night checking in every hour.

Sunday morning, watchstanders launched a Coast Guard Station Humboldt Bay 47-foot Motor Life crew to tow the vessel back to shore.
At approximately 1:14 p.m., Sunday, the MLB crew arrived on scene and set the vessel in a stern tow and took the Paramour III and crew to Crescent City.

There were no reported injuries.
