Phyllis A. Del Grande, 71, of Eureka, California, passed away peacefully on Oct. 16.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lena Harrell and brother E.C. Harrell. She is survived by her siblings Carolyn, Barbara, Irene, Ralph and George, her husband David Del Grande and children Debbie, Bobby, Mike and Tony Del Grande, grandchildren Hailey, Ally, Don, Dylan, Zack and Bella Del Grande, daughter-in-laws Becky and Charlene Del Grande, Mary Del Grande, Duane and Melissa Lemley and family.

Phyllis was born on May 26, 1945 in Bradenton, Florida. She entered the Navy in 1963, where she met her husband Dave.

Phyllis was always a kind, caring person who loved taking care of others. Besides raising four children she was a dedicated caregiver, working as a nurse for over 20 years at Sunset Convalescent home, Crestwood Manor and most recently the Humboldt County Jail, which she absolutely loved.

Phyllis suffered a stroke that took her away from what she loved to do, and as a result developed dementia.

The family would like to extend a thank you to all the community agencies and people who helped locate her the times she wandered off. In lieu of services the family is requesting donations to help the Gallagher family, who just lost their mother. Donations can be made to Coast Central Credit Union account #194659 S7.1. Phyllis would have wanted to help the girls.
