Press release from the Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services:

The Humboldt County Department of Health & Human Services is looking for foster homes for kids of all ages, particularly teenagers. Homes are needed for both emergency and long-term stays. There are more than 300 children in the foster care system. Families of all types and living in all areas of the county are being sought.

DHHS is engaged in an ongoing effort to reach potential foster parents as this shortage of available homes is a continuous problem. Over the summer, Eureka videographer Malcolm DeSoto of Runaway Kite Productions completed the “Foster Parents Needed” video which shows the rewards and challenges of being a foster parent. Local foster families, adopted children, DHHS employees and even a couple of local actors participated in the movie production.

When Humboldt children can’t be kept safe in their homes, foster parents are needed to help. In just over eight minutes, the video gives an overview of what foster parents experience when taking in kids.
