James
(Jim) Byrns passed away August 4, 2016 at Sutter Coast Hospital.
Jim was born October 8, 1941 to Dennis and Lillian Byrns in Exeter, Calif. They later moved to Petrolia before settling into Arcata, where he attended and graduated from Arcata High School.
Jim was preceded in death by both of his parents, his sister Faye, his brother Eugene, and nephew David Galyean. He is survived by his wife Linda, son Richard Byrns, daughter Linda Stevenson, stepchildren Jeremy Miller, Josh Miller, and Jenny Reeder, sister Francis Galyean (John), and three Grandchildren Brent Coonrod, Trent Stevenson, and Tyrin Stevenson. Jim was lucky enough to see the birth of two great grandchildren: Chloe Coonrod, and Kinsley Stevenson.
Jim will be remembered by most for the years he worked as a timber faller in the woods and having a cold Hamm’s beer while telling his famous stories. His humor was truly one of a kind and made him a truly special individual to the many that knew him. He enjoyed fishing and hunting up until his health would not allow him to. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren for being the funniest and coolest Papa Jim ever.
