Leonard Dare lost a courageous battle with cancer Sept. 11, 2016. He was a gentle loving soul who will forever be missed.
Leonard was born May 22, 1952 in the old Trinity Hospital in Arcata. He grew up in Arcata and graduated from Arcata High in 1970. After graduation he joined the air force and was stationed in Great Falls, Montana where he met the love of his life, Carole Sangray. They were married Aug. 16, 1975.
After being discharged from the air force they moved to Arcata, where Leonard worked in the mills. He worked 30 years for Sierra Pacific.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 41 years Carole Dare; his son Eric (Stormie) Dare; granddaughter & princess Kelis Dare; sisters Kathy Dare; Debbie Miller(Leon); sister-in -law Sharon (Greg); brother in-law Steve Poole (Kathy); sister in-law Carole James (Danny); numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Ben Dare, mother Carrie Dare, brother Ben Jr. and brothers-in–law Tom Sangray and Bob Sangray.
Special thanks to my son Eric Dare, who has been my rock, special friends Carson and Rosa Bledsoe, our family and friends, the staff at Humboldt Oncology, Mark Harmon and his staff. Leonard loved you nurses and Hospice of Humboldt.
Please say a prayer for all the brave souls fighting cancer. Pray that one day soon they will have find a cure. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

There will be a ceremony for Leonard Dare on Saturday, October 15 at 2 p.m. at Moose Lodge in McKinleyville.
