Are you curious what our community is doing to support the people in Standing Rock, North Dakota? According to records published by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, both the Yurok and Hoopa Valley Tribes are taking action to show solidarity.  This weekend, I reached out to Yurok, Hoopa and other local tribes to see what specific actions are being taken and how our community can become more involved.

In response to this inquiry, I was fortunate to speak with Hoopa Valley Tribal Council Chairman, Ryan Jackson, about his recent trip to Standing Rock. He talks about how the Hoopa Tribe is taking action to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline from destroying sacred land and potentially contaminating the river. Chairman Jackson also shares his perspective and ideas about how folks who want to get involved can help.
