Hi, Brett!

The Arcata City Council unanimously voted to appoint Brett Watson to the Council at a special candidate forum meeting tonight. Councilmember Watson’s first meeting may be as early as next Wednesday, April 19.

There was one vacancy on the Arcata City Council following Mark Wheetley’s resignation to become Fortuna’s City Manager. The four current Councilmembers conducted a well-attended candidate forum to select a fifth Councilmember on Thursday, April 13. The forum was the first municipal meeting to utilize Facebook Live. 

Audience members submitted questions at the forum and via Facebook Live @cityofarcata, where the meeting video can be seen. People can also watch the forum video here and during re-airing on Access Humboldt/Suddenlink Cable Channel 10.
