“The puppies were a big hit during their layover at EPD.” -Eureka Animal Control.

UPDATE, 2:30 p.m.:

The Eureka Animal Control has contacted the Outpost to inform us that their phones are now ringing off the hook with people who want to snatch up these pups. Unfortunately for those interested, the dogs are still on a legal four-day hold where the owner still has the opportunity to reclaim them.

The dogs will be available as soon as the hold is lifted next week. Be patient, Humboldt.

###

Eureka Animal Control officers rescued an abandoned pooch with eight newborn pups near the intersection of P and 7th Streets yesterday.

The dogs are currently in the care of Redwood Pals Rescue, but the shelter is looking for someone to foster the family until the puppies are old enough for adoption.

If you have the space for one or all of them, you can contact Redwood Pals Rescue at (707) 839-9692.

The City of Eureka would also like to remind everyone that abandoning dogs is a serious offense. Anyone with information on this abandonment can contact animal control at (707) 441-4327.
